It’s no secret that DC is going through it. With all of the behind-the-scenes drama with its talent and creatives, it seems that DC can’t catch a break in the live-action film world. DC is unsure if it wants to do a shared universe or if it wants to stay on the separated route. Fans want to see a competition between DC and its friendly rival Marvel in terms of a live-action shared universe. Seeing a live-action version of Justice League Unlimited is all people want, and in order to get there, DC and WB might have to rely on Superman.

According to insider information reported by The Wrap, Warner Bros. Discovery boss David Zaslav is looking to find new leadership for DC, which is something that was revealed a little while back. “If anything they’ll go back to individual movies unless De Luca has some plan. They need to get a… Superman movie off the ground, and if the plan is a shared universe, a Cavill-led Superman needs to be the focal point.” The insider said. The insider source also noted that Zaslav’s team “should scratch every Superman project in development and start fresh with Cavill.”
The other Superman projects referenced are Ta-Nehisi Coates and J.J. Abrams’ Superman movie about a Black Man of Steel and a live-action take on Val-Zod produced by Michael B. Jordan. Cancelling either of these two projects doesn’t seem like a good idea. If anything, the other Superman projects can exist in separate universes or movies considering the fact that DC has currently three versions of Batman, two Flashes, and two Supergirls, to name a few. It just seems like they’re finding any reason to hold back a project about Val-Zod rather than find a different solution to DC’s predicament.
It would be very nice to have the original actors back, including Cavill so he gets a fair shot at the role. However, it doesn’t mean that the other in development projects should be cancelled. Val-Zod can exist in his own universe while DC tries to figure out the shared universe dilemma. Hopefully, for fans’ sake, a solution is near.
Man of Steel is now available on HBO Max.
