This year’s Lunar New Year, like other recent Overwatch seasonal events, is somewhat limited when it comes to new skins. With Blizzard hard at work on Overwatch 2, Overwatch’s days of dozens of new skins per event are behind it. That said, Blizzard did put together 7 new skins for the latest event – four Legendary skins and three Epic skins. The four Legendary skins will be solely acquired through loot boxes and in-game currency, while the three Epic will have to be unlocked through Challenges.

The four Legendary skins this year are for Sombra, Moira, Brigitte, and Lucio. Sombra’s Legendary masked skin will be named the Face Changer, Moira’s brightly-colored skin is the Mask Dancer, Brigitte’s armored skin is named Opera, and Lucio’s skin is the Samul Nori. All four will be available via the Lunar New Year loot boxes with typical Legendary rarity or can be purchased for typical Legendary in-game prices. Once the event ends, they’ll go in the vault with the rest of the past Lunar New Year skins.
Blizzard has confirmed that the three Epic Lunar New Year Overwatch skins will be released via three weekly Challenges. Each week will have three different Challenges, with each Challenge rewarding a different cosmetic. The Challenges aren’t anything too difficult, as each one requires players to get 3 additional wins in Quick Play, Competitive, or Arcade. For 9 wins, the first week grants the Monk Doomfist skin, week two offers Ancient Bronze Winston, and week three is for Paper Cutting Wrecking Ball.
The 2020 Lunar New Year in Overwatch will, of course, feature more cosmetics than just skins. There will also be two new emotes, one featuring a kite and the other a sky lantern, and Junkrat is getting a new intro in which he eats too many dumplings. There are also a range of icons and sprays for players to discover, too. All of the new content will be mixed in with past Lunar New Year offerings in the new loot boxes, and as usual, the content is open only for the duration of the event.
Overwatch is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
