Epic Games has organized the Fortnite event so that as many players as possible will be able to join in and watch with relative ease. Epic has provided two different times. The first time is a “Doors Open” time and the second is when the show itself will start. The Doors Open time is the time after which players can join a match and be placed into a game that’s safe for viewing. Joining a match prior to the Doors Open time will put players into a normal Fortnite match. Join a match after the Doors Open time but before the show begins.

As for what players can expect from the event, Epic Games and friends have shared some early details. The event includes a short clip from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, obviously. But it will also feature some sort of live interaction with the film’s director, J.J. Abrams, and The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley. Exactly what kind of live interaction will be at play isn’t clear, but if the Marshmello concert is any indication, Epic Games will make it worth Fortnite players’ time.

Fortnite Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Event Start Time

PT: 10:30 AM Doors Open / 11:00 AM Show Begins

CT: 12:30 PM Doors Open / 1:00 PM Show Begins

ET: 1:30 PM Doors Open / 2:00 PM Show Begins

Additionally, if the event itself isn’t enough of a reward for players to go out of their way and watch, Epic Games is sweetening the deal. All Fortnite players who attend the event will receive a free gift. The reward is a TIE Whisper Glider, a glider that looks like a Star Wars TIE Fighter. Maybe it’s not the traditional TIE fighter Star Wars fans remember from the movie, but it’s close enough for Fortnite and still looks very cool.

Doors open for the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker event in just a short amount of time. Those planning to attend should make sure that Fortnite’s downloaded updated as soon as possible. Fortnite is free-to-play, so even new players can download the game and join in on the fun without having to pay for anything. It may be a Fortnite experience that will never happen again. It might be a total fiasco. Either way, it should be a lot of fun and well worth the 30-60 minutes.

Fortnite is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and mobile devices.
