Destiny 2 seems to have had some new life breathed into it after Bungie terminated its partnership with Activision, which fans have voiced their support for across social media. With Destiny 2’s Season of Arrivals revealing the latest content roadmap, fans are eager to experience all the new content the game has in store for its longtime player base. Additionally, Bungie seems just as satisfied with its player’s support and feedback.

For those who may be unaware, Bungie Day was a campaign and celebration started by the Bungie’s fans. An official post on Bungie.net reads, “Before you go thinking we’re on an ego-trip here, this isn’t something we created to honor ourselves. The very first Bungie Day was hosted by the players as a way to express their love for the games we make. We joined that party and, in the years that followed, we’ve used the occasion to celebrate that same community.” The hashtag is filled with players celebrating their love of all things Bungie, from new content in Destiny 2 like the Iron Banner return to the company’s older games like the original Halo trilogy.

The Bungie Day hashtag is filled with various kinds of support and celebration from fans, such as impressive works of fan art and heartfelt thanks to the Destiny community. It’s impressive how Bungie was able to build up its reputation through major companies like Microsoft and Activision. It’s not always easy for development studios to remain independent, but maintaining creative control of its IP’s seems very important for Bungie. This newfound freedom almost didn’t happen as Microsoft almost owned the Destiny IP, but the Activision partnership ensured Bungie would maintain it.

All in all, it really is heartwarming to see Bungie’s community support them so heavily. With a lot of the negativity commonly found on social media platforms, it’s refreshing to see fans show up with an outpouring of support for a studio and community they love. Bungie recently laid out the next three years of Destiny 2 expansions, so fans have a lot left to look forward to.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
